RFID Technology Used to Detect Bumblebee Foraging Behaviors

A future where clothing can monitor health in real time may not be far off, according to researchers at Cornell University who recently demonstrated a method for using RFID technology to measure internal body movements and gather blood pressure, heart rate and breath rate data.

After analyzing 111 bees, researchers discovered that most worker bumblebees specialize in either pollen or nectar collection, and then change to the opposite specialization before the end of their short lifespan.
