Adding Intelligence to Table Games

A major manufacturer of table games wished to increase the ‘intelligence’ of their games, so that they could add interactive features.

board gamesThe Challenge

To do this they needed an inexpensive way to know where the players’ pieces were on the game board. Software could then interact with the players based on the status of the game. The company turned to Vizinex to help them solve this problem.

The Vizinex Solution

Vizinex developed a system, now patent pending, that embedded an RFID antenna in the game board and small antennae in the game pieces. When the pieces are on the board, the antennae couple, and the board can sense the presence of each game piece. This enables the functionality the customer requested, at a lower cost than any competing technology.

This low cost location technology can be used for any application where the area of location is relatively small.
